Undergraduate engineering programmes in Technical University of Kenya offers a broad variety of courses serving the needs of students in all of the majors. The engineering students pursue courses in which mathematical ideas, many of them quite recently developed and reviewed, are applied solve issues of engineering. Industrial mathematics offered in the department typically strive to find practical and efficient mathematical solutions to the problem in industry. Besides the traditional methods in applied mathematics, industrial mathematics employs techniques in computer science and other sciences, to considerably enable students model industrial problems.
 
The mandate of the Department covers application of techniques of computer modelling in industry, engineering, business, and the sciences. Besides developing her own programmes, the Department is responsible for the teaching of mathematics to engineering students and to other programmes that are concerned with the application of mathematics in technology.
